I handed cash to a drug addict—what happened next blew me away.
I walked into the church in Reno and met Tim, a resource table volunteer. I handed him the money bag with $120 to make change for cash sales and gave simple instructions.
Here’s what I didn’t know.
Tim was a recovering addict fresh off the streets. For ten years, no one had ever handed him cash. It would go up his nose or into his veins. Nobody gave Tim cash ... but I just gave him $120!
(this photo is from that actual day)
Tim had just received Christ THE DAY BEFORE.
Otto Kelly had walked Tim off the streets and over time, into faith. The next day, we handed him cash.
Later, Tim said, “I thought maybe that’s how God tested new believers!”
What a moment.
Tim then went through the CMN Maximized Manhood curriculum. The power of God transformed him.
Tim’s dad had never given up on him.
He prayed for him while Tim was on the streets. Loved him. The dad went through the curriculum with his son until they completed it and qualified to be commissioned together and receive a sword side by side.
But before the commissioning ceremony, Tim’s dad became gravely ill and was hospitalized.
We rushed a sword to Reno so Tim and Otto could take it to the hospital.
In that hospital room, the dad who never gave up on his son received his CMN commissioning sword. Hours later, that dad entered heaven.
Today, Tim is fully engaged in his local church, building a trucking company, and raising a son.
That’s why we work and give, pray and go.
It’s your partnership, being a brother to men you may never meet, that makes the difference as Jesus changes the heart of a man.
Thank you for giving today.
Thank you for your generosity that carries the Gospel to men across America and around the world.
Forever grateful to God for the life of our brother Tim. Forever grateful for faithful men like Otto and the brotherhood that made this happen.
