Air Force and Army veteran Richard E. Webster, Jr, husband of CMN Vice President Joann Cole Webster, finished his earthly assignment on June 15, 2024. Richard was a faithful husband, father, grandfather, and loyal friend.
Richard carried on a military tradition after his great-grandfather who served in the Union Army, his uncle, killed in action in the Philippines, and his father, a World War II veteran. Richard joined the Air Force in 1971 and later joined the Army.
While stationed in Las Vegas a friend invited Richard to church where he heard for the first time that Jesus Christ loved him. Richard instantly chose to follow Him and served Christ with his whole heart for the rest of his life.
Richard attended college during his military service, and later earned an undergraduate degree with a double major in English Literature and Psychology, plus many certificates and licenses including Clinical Pastoral Counseling and Family Therapy, a Master of Arts in Clinical Christian Counseling and a Master of Arts in Theological Studies from Asbury.
Richard had two sons Joshua Jon Webster in 1975 and Seth Michael Webster in 1977. Joann and Richard married in 1986 and she became a devoted step-mother.
Richard traveled often with Dr. Ed Cole, his father-in-law, and was greatly loved by the entire family. His enduring legacy will be one of a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.
As we celebrate the birth of America on July 4, we enjoy our freedoms because of faithful men like Richard Webster who were willing to put aside personal ambitions to serve their nation with distinction.
Friends are invited to services on Monday, July 15, 2024, 10:30 am at Oasis DFW, 801 S Collins, Arlington, Texas, and at 1:00 pm at the Dallas National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, TX 75211.
